Snippets

Not too much to report, but just a little note from St. John's for you all!
We are still stuck in a bit of a cold snap, but anticipating 7 degrees tomorrow and lots of rain and fog.... I've been looking forward to it all week.
Our little moms group is meeting up again tomorrow... something I also look forward to on a weekly basis! It started with a few mamas from our little church, but is growing and is very enjoyable. A lovely way to spend a Thursday afternoon- with a cup of coffee, a cookie or two, and some good company.

I remarked to Brian the other day that this was his 5th Newfoundland winter, and my 4th. This summer I will have lived here for 5 years! It's the longest I have ever lived in one city besides Grimsby. London for university was shorter than that, and also I left every year for 4 months- usually for treeplanting, then for Victoria. It is nice to feel settled in a place. Chances are high that we will be moving onward when Brian finishes up his PhD, but that will be at least another year and probably closer to two. So, we may as well keep putting down roots. Speaking of roots... I am already looking forward to planting our garden again this year.. and to actually be present for the early stages of growing. Last year we planted everything the night before we left for BC for a month, so this year we'll be able to tend to the wee little plants a bit better.

I haven't been taking very many pictures lately.. Bronwen is increasingly more difficult to capture in a picture, though I keep trying of course! And since I have been working on the weekends, we haven't done many fun outdoor pursuits (plus it has been too cold and windy to take a one year old out there). So I'll just put up a couple from the archives, for old times' sake...

Valentines Day 2011. Pound cake with custard and strawberries, yum!

mmmmm

a picture from some of the engagement shots I took of our friends Alex and Adrienne,
spring 2011.  They are expecting their first baby this May!
